You can never have too many good Italian restaurants in your back pocket – and Vinoteca di Sartoria well deserves its spot. After all, who doesn’t love excellent wine paired with seasonal Italian food? We visited for a team dinner and it did not disappoint – so much so that we’re already planning our return visit…

Whilst we had an evening sitting, the vibe of the restaurant suits whatever kind of occasion you’re after – be that a relaxed lunch or casual drinks after work. And if you fancy trying it for yourself, you’ve got three London locations to choose from, each with its own distinct character and vibe. Great wine lies at the heart of everything the Vinoteca team does, so our meal was very much shaped around this. We kicked things off with a glass of delicious, crisp sparkling, which set the bar nice and high for things to come…

If you’re mainly visiting to sample their wine, the small plates are a perfect option as they’re designed to pair perfectly with whatever is in their cellar. However, we came hungry and ready to eat – and we were not disappointed. From crudo and salads to pasta, meat and fish, the menu offers all of the must-have Italian dishes you’d hope to see, alongside a tempting selection of salumi, cheeses and sides that are perfect sharing snacks for the table.

Some of our highlights were the calamari, a silky carbonara topped with crispy chunks of guanciale, and the tender corn-fed chicken cacciatore. And the meal went from strength to strength as dessert arrived, the tiramisu with a generous hit of Marsala liqueur and double-baked chocolate cake being the standouts. But tying everything together into the perfect culinary experience that it was, was the wine.

Guided by the extremely knowledgeable waiting staff, everything we ate was paired with a truly sensational pour, giving each course a real sense of occasion. If, like us, you fall in love with the wine on offer at Vinoteca di Sartoria, you can visit the shop on-site at the restaurant and take some of your favourite bottles home.
