Eine der rührendsten und herzerwärmendsten Sehenswürdigkeiten Londons hat ihre Rückkehr in diesem Winter angekündigt. Diesen November wird sich der Grosvenor Square wieder in den zauberhaften Ever After Garden verwandeln. Ein Meer von 30.000 beleuchteten weißen Rosen wird den Platz in Beschlag nehmen, wenn der Garten zum fünften Mal stattfindet. Der Ever After Garden wird am 14. November nach Mayfair zurückkehren. Besucher können Rosen für geliebte Menschen, die sie verloren haben, widmen – und der Preis jeder Rose hilft, Spenden für die Royal Marsden Cancer Charity zu sammeln.
Anya Hindmarch, Designerin und Treuhänderin der Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, und die Modeschriftstellerin Camilla Morton haben den Garten entworfen. Sie schufen den Garten in Erinnerung an ihren Freund, den Produktionsdesigner Michael Howells. Der Garten selbst ist nach dem Film Ever After benannt, an dem Howells mitgearbeitet hat.
Der Garten wurde erstmals 2019 angelegt, um auf beeindruckende und friedliche Weise der Menschen zu gedenken, die wir verloren haben. Nach einer Unterbrechung im Jahr 2020 kehrt es seitdem jeden Winter zurück. Im Laufe der Jahre hat das beeindruckende Denkmal über 870.000 Pfund für die Royal Marsden Cancer Charity gesammelt.
Anya Hindmarch sagte dazu:
„Der Ever After Garden hat einen besonderen Platz in den Herzen so vieler Menschen. Dieser wunderschöne Ort gibt uns ein Gefühl der Hoffnung und bringt uns zusammen, um uns an geliebte Menschen zu erinnern. Ich bin auch sehr stolz auf den Unterschied, den der Garten für krebskranke Menschen und ihre Familien bedeutet. Mit dem Geld, das für die Royal Marsden Cancer Charity gesammelt wird, wird lebensrettende Forschung finanziert, die nicht nur für die Patienten des Royal Marsden von großer Bedeutung ist, sondern auch Durchbrüche in der Krebsbehandlung ermöglicht, die weit über die Grenzen des Royal Marsden hinaus Wirkung zeigen.“
Den Ever After Garden sehen
In diesem Jahr wird der Ever After Garden etwas früher als in den Vorjahren eröffnet. Das bedeutet, dass Gratulanten und Besucher noch mehr Zeit haben werden, die schöne und ruhige Umgebung zu genießen. Der Garten ist vom 14. November bis zum 18. Dezember jeden Tag von 15 bis 21 Uhr geöffnet.
Der Eintritt in den Garten ist frei. Jeder kann einen Beitrag zu der Installation leisten, indem er einer der beleuchteten weißen Seidenrosen eine persönliche Widmung zu Ehren eines geliebten Menschen hinzufügt, wofür eine Spende von 10 £ empfohlen wird. Die Besucher können die Widmung persönlich verfassen oder sie online übermitteln.
Antonia Dalmahoy, Geschäftsführerin der Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, sagte:
„Der Ever After Garden ist eine wunderbare Möglichkeit, sich an die Menschen zu erinnern, die uns am wichtigsten sind, und die Geschichten, die mit jeder Rosenwidmung geteilt werden, machen den Besuch des Gartens zu einem unglaublich bewegenden Erlebnis.
„Mit jeder Widmung im Ever After Garden werden wichtige Spenden für die Royal Marsden Cancer Charity gesammelt, die zur Finanzierung der bahnbrechenden Forschung im Royal Marsden beiträgt. Von klinischen Studien bis hin zur Entwicklung neuer Medikamente kommt diese Arbeit Menschen mit Krebs auf der ganzen Welt zugute. Bei der Krebsdiagnose und -behandlung wurden bedeutende Fortschritte erzielt, aber es gibt noch so viel mehr zu tun, und das Geld, das durch den Ever After Garden eingenommen wird, hilft, diese Arbeit voranzutreiben, damit Krebspatienten auf der ganzen Welt davon profitieren können.
