Pode ser uma manhã sombria de setembro – com as crianças a regressarem à escola apenas esta semana – mas os preparativos para o Natal já começaram. Já deve ter visto que o seu supermercado local está a vender tartes de carne picada, stollen e pudins de Natal – e a partir de agora só vai piorar.
Esta semana, voltamos a aproximar-se da grande palavra C, com o regresso de um canal de televisão gratuito que só passa filmes de Natal. O canal de televisão atualmente existente, GREAT! Romance vai transformar-se em GREAT! Christmas para a época festiva – e passará filmes todos os dias, todos os dias, até ao início de janeiro de 2025.
Então, que clássicos de Natal podemos esperar? “Elf”? “Miracle on 31st Street”? “Home Alone?” Hmm, não é bem assim. ÓPTIMO! O Natal dedica-se exclusivamente a filmes de TV de baixo orçamento. O que alguns podem chamar de “filme de Natal da Hallmark”. São foleiros, são tropos, e são exatamente o que queremos para o Natal.
O primeiro filme está agendado para as 8 da manhã de quinta-feira, 5 de setembro – ou seja, 110 dias antes do grande dia. Chama-se “Rocky Mountain Christmas” e é sobre Sarah que “foge para o rancho do tio para passar o Natal depois de uma separação de alto nível. Será que a sua vida amorosa se vai complicar ainda mais quando uma estrela de cinema chega ao rancho para preparar o seu próximo filme?”
A qualidade raramente é melhor do que isso, com clássicos como “A Joyous Christmas”, “The Mistletoe Promise” e “The Christmas Cure” todos programados. Espera-se muita alegria natalícia, cidades pequenas e escolhas difíceis entre um emprego na cidade grande e um tipo encantador que a nossa protagonista conheceu há três dias. Não é exatamente “It’s A Wonderful Life”, mas para um rápido impulso de espírito festivo, é mágico.

Poderá ver o GREAT! Christmas na Sky, Virgin Media e Freeview. Vai ser lançado na quinta-feira, 5 de setembro – o mais cedo que alguma vez foi sintonizado – e substituirá o GREAT! Romance. Poderá encontrá-lo nos canais 319 (Sky), 424 (Virgin Media), 53 (Freeview) e 47 (Freely). Também estará disponível para transmissão via Samsung TV Plus e LG Channels.
