Flaming June é uma das obras mais importantes de Frederic, Lord Leighton PRA (1830-1896) e foi exposta pela primeira vez na Royal Academy em 1895. Sim, 1895. E assim, passados quase 128 anos, a obra-prima regressou a Piccadilly, emprestada pelo Museo de Arte de Ponce, em Porto Rico. A pintura cativante será exibida juntamente com outras peças de Leighton e dos seus contemporâneos – esteja atento ao Taddei Tondo de Miguel Ângelo.

2. Chris Ofili: Requiem, Tate Britain
Chris Ofili: Requiem é um mural deslumbrante que homenageia as vidas trágicas perdidas durante o incêndio da Torre Grenfell. A Tate Britain encomendou a Christ Ofili a transformação completa da sua escadaria norte no ano passado, e a sua magnífica beleza tem cativado os visitantes desde então. Ofili tinha uma ligação à torre, sendo amigo da artista Khadija Saye, que infelizmente perdeu a vida no incêndio. O simbolismo poético e a sua vibração de cortar a respiração fazem dela uma visita obrigatória à medida que nos aproximamos do sétimo aniversário da tragédia de Londres.

3. O Conservatório x Ranjani Shettar, Barbican
O lindo conservatório do Barbican apresenta agora cinco obras em grande escala do escultor indiano Ranjani Shettar. 4. Uma Ideia de Vida, Museu da Mulher
No início deste ano, Londres recebeu o seu primeiro museu dedicado às histórias de mulheres e raparigas. Para celebrar esta fantástica adição ao nosso cenário de museus em constante crescimento, o Women’s Museum lançou a sua exposição inaugural intitulada “An Idea of Life”. Com vários artefactos e obras de arte encomendadas, este espaço perspicaz junta-se à longa lista de coisas incríveis e gratuitas para fazer na capital.

5. Bob e Roberta Smith: Thamesmead Codex, Tate Modern
Os artistas Bob e Roberta Smith criaram esta obra inspiradora que está atualmente em exposição na Tate Modern. A obra documenta histórias retiradas de entrevistas que os artistas fizeram a pessoas que vivem em Thamesmead, no sudeste de Londres. Thamesmead foi construído nos anos sessenta para ajudar na crise habitacional de Londres após a Segunda Guerra Mundial. A obra de arte vívida e brilhante combina escrita de sinais, ativismo e materiais descartados.

6. Arte Agora: Zeinab Saleh, Tate Britain
A série de pinturas e desenhos evocativos de Zeinab Saleh, artista nascida no Quénia e residente em Londres, está exposta na Tate e foi criada especificamente para esta exposição, utilizando tinta acrílica, carvão e pastéis suaves. As peças de Saleh são inspiradas em experiências do quotidiano, encontros pessoais e memórias, e evocam uma qualidade onírica através da utilização de uma paleta de cores suaves de azuis pálidos, rosas e branco, que instilam uma sensação de calma e contemplação.

7. Mantegna: Os Triunfos de César, Galeria Nacional
Consideradas como estando entre as melhores realizações da arte renascentista italiana, um total de nove telas requintadas foram pintadas pelo lendário artista Andrea Mantegna no final do século XV e início do século XVI. Pela primeira vez, seis delas estão a deixar a sua residência no palácio real, Hampton Court , classificado pela UNESCO, enquanto a Galeria Mantegna está a ser renovada.
