We’ve found six of London’s best roast dinners for the perfect, indulgent Sunday.
We can’t promise that these roasts will be better than your mums’, and frankly we have no right to compare them, but we can pretty much guarantee that they’ll be at least *almost* as good.
1. Blacklock, Soho
Although Blacklock usually specialises in succulent chops, they’re all about roast dinners when it comes to the day of rest. You can choose between beef, lamb or pork, but we suggest you go for all three with the ‘All In’ combo (you’d be stupid not to, but be prepared to share). The meat is cooked over coals and is obviously accompanied by all of the trimmings: duck fat roasties, crispy pork crackling, giant Yorkshire puds, greens, oranges (that’s carrots), and bone marrow gravy. You can also add cauliflower cheese and homemade sauces if you’re feeling extra piggy. Note that their Sunday Roast is only available at their Soho branch (and has a very long waiting list)!

2. The Bull and Last, Highgate
The bigger the Yorkshire the better, amirite? The Bull and Last features on many a “Best Roasts In London” post, but we couldn’t help but include it in ours, too. If it’s proper roast beef you’re after, then you needn’t look any further. The Bull and Last has North Essex Shorthorn Roast Sirloin of Beef on the menu, and if that’s not enough of a mouthful to say, it will certainly be enough mouthfuls to eat. (Did that sentence even make sense? It sounded clever). They’ve also got Roasted Pork Belly that comes with fancy things like sauerkraut, pears and purple sprouting… but there’s no Yorkshires with that one so we’re not sure how to feel about that.
168 Highgate Road, NW5 1QS
3. Load of Hay Tavern
Although it’s had a number of different names in the past, The Load of Hay Tavern has recently reverted back to its original name, which it acquired back in 1721. The pub prides itself on serving top-notch food, and their roasts are nothing short of delectable. You can choose from beef, chicken or lamb and they all come served with honey glazed veg, roast potatoes (obviously), greens, Yorkshire puds (obviously), and gravy (obviously). We certainly don’t need any more convincing…

4. Coin Laundry
5. OSLO, Hackney
Nestled away in a former railway station in Hackney, you’ll find one of the most amazing roasts in east London. Tuck into roast beef, roast chicken or a lovely nut roast served with all the trimmings, including roasted parsnips, goose fat potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, kale, carrots, and gravy.
1A Amhurst Road, Hackney, E8 1LL
6. ROAST, Borough Market
With six options for Sunday lunch, you are absolutely spoilt for choice at Roast. From roast sirloin of Hereford beef with a Yorkshire pudding and creamed horseradish, to pork belly and Bramley apple sauce, this is an excellent spot for Sunday lunch (as you might expect from a restaurant with this name).
