A Year Since David Bowie Passed: This Is How London Is Celebrating His Life

It’s been a year since the Brixton-born Starman passed away and, to commemorate the year anniversary since David Bowie’s death, thousands of fans will head to London to celebrate his inspiring talent and life. Events have already taken place over the weekend, on what would have been his 70th birthday (Sunday 8th January). However, if you were unable to make them, here’s are a couple of alternative things happening this week.


London Short Film Festival – ‘Sound and Vision’ – Brixton Ritzy Cinema

London Short Film Festival have curated a night of Bowie-themed cinema, Sound & Vision, which will be screened at selected Picturehouses, including the Ritzy Cinema, Brixton – home to the Starman’s birthplace. Adults pay £12.50 for entry, which gives you access to four film shorts, both about and starring David Bowie. You can find more about each film (listed below) and book your tickets here.

David Bowie Special – Lock Tavern

If you can’t make this evening, then the lock Tavern in Camden are throwing a David Bowie special in honour of the late and great musician. The night will consist of Bowie classics, as well as songs and covers from collaborators or artists he’s influenced – Iggy Pop, Lou Reed & Nirvana. The event is free entry, but you can reserve a ticket via here to guarantee entry.
