There are some fabulous Christmas markets in London, but Christmas by the River definitely has it all.
Mulled wine – check. Live music – check. Copious amounts of Bratwurst (as well as a vast range of street food, sweet treats, burgers and a whole stall dedicated to fudge) – check. Oh, and it just so happens to flaunt the most breathtaking views of London. Below are a few of this year’s market highlights.
Beanbag Coffee
What’s so special about a coffee stall? Well, it’s not only the perfect way to keep your fingers toasty warm (without relying too heavily on mulled wine), but Beanbag coffee have also brought their own unique take on everyone’s favourite caffeinated drink. Taking inspiration from Thailand and South-East Asia, Beanbag Coffee use a traditional Thai drip-method and muslin filter to infuse their robusta beans with unique flavours, such as avocado, coconut and peanut. Not just your average cwoffee.
Winter’s Dream
Before you start chuckling about the almost raunchy name of the bar, we’ll have you know that the team behind it are fully aware of what it sounds like. They have organised a line-up of wonderful artists and bands to perform every night, as well as Christmas-themed movie nights. Boogying is certainly encouraged, as well as being a fantastic way to keep warm. Another trick to keep warm – ask the bartender for a Fireball shot.
Hay’s Galleria
As well as flaunting ridiculously beautiful ceilings and an elegant, tall Christmas tree to match, Hay’s Galleria also has a selection of lovely market stalls inside, perfect for gift ideas and shopping. Some of the markets, perfect for gift ideas include Bubblegum Balloons, who are currently selling hand-crafted and personalised baubles as well as fabulous balloon creations. Molly and The Wolf is perfect for gorgeously made toys and children’s gifts.
Running until 3rd January 2017, there are also plenty of one-off events and workshops taking place at Christmas by the River. You can find out what’s going on here.
