As you may well know by now, Westfield London has just been through a major expansion and is now officially The Largest Shopping Centre in Europe.
The Shepherd’s Bush destination has added a few more foodie options to its lineup, including Europe’s largest Japanese food hall and a restaurant/bar from the team behind The Botanist. Here’s what to look out for on your next visit:
Ichiba: Europe’s largest Japanese food hall
Ichiba is a huge, indoor marketplace where you’ll find over 3,000 Japanese products, including groceries, homewares, confectionary, sake, and typical Japanese street food. Get a peek behind the scenes by peering into the open plan kitchens and watch chefs prepare fresh takoyaki, okonomiyaki and teppanyaki right in front of your eyes. There’ll also be deliciously authentic sushi and sashimi, noodles and katsu curry, and London’s very best ramen from restaurant chain, Shoryu. Alternatively, retire to the bakery and café, where you’ll find matcha lattes, dorayaki (i.e. Japanese filled pancakes) and other freshly baked treats.
Find out more on the Ichiba website.
Maple: a stunning, botanical-themed bar and restaurant
Maple is the newest venture from the guys behind The Botanist and rooftop restaurant Aviary, and is a destination for excellent cocktails, stunning interiors and amazing meat and seafood. Take a well-earned break from exploring all that Westfield has to offer and make yourself at home in the beautiful, botanical-themed venue. Start the day off with something from their brilliant breakfast menu, or make a toast to the sunshine on their outdoor terrace!
Maple is open seven days a week, 8am – 11pm (opens at 9am on Saturdays and Sundays). Find out more, including how to book, on the Maple website.
Hotel Chocolat: a new branch offering free chocolate every single month
You’ve all heard of Hotel Chocolat, but this is a seriously exciting new store. Each month, you can drop into the Westfield London store to try a new recipe on the house. There’ll also be all of their usual stock, including gift boxes and imaginative flavours, and a café serving their award-winning Hot Chocolat, Coffee Chocolat Latte, Frappes, etc. But, perhaps most importantly, they will also be selling their new Ice Cream of the Gods, made with pure roasted cocoa.
Hotel Chocolat is open 10am – 10pm daily. You’ll find it on the ground floor, opposite Boots.
SushiDog: sushi burritos and healthy poke bowls
Everyone loves a meal that tastes as good as it looks, and SushiDog’s dishes are as Instagrammable as they come. Colourful, healthy and made-to-order; this new store ticks all of the boxes. Pop in for a quick lunch and opt for a SushiDog roll (i.e. a sushi burrito) or a SushiDog bowl; both filled with fresh ingredients that are guaranteed to maki you smile.
SushiDog is open Monday to Saturday, 10am – 10pm, and Sundays 12pm – 6pm. You’ll find it on the first floor, between MANGO and Currys PC World.
Each of these venues can be found at Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush (Ariel Way, W12 7GF). Nearest stations: White City, Wood Lane and Shepherd’s Bush (Underground and Overground). Oh and ICYMI: Westfield London has also opened tonnes of new fashion and beauty stores, a bunch of hi-tech, hi-energy entertainment options, and introduced a sweet selection of desserts.
