What can we expect at We call it Drums?
Now, drum roll please! This show falls far from ordinary, taking live music in a whole new direction. A setting which tests your senses with thrilling patterns on incandescent drumkits. With five skilled local musicians taking to the stage, this 60-minute show will light up the night as LED lights leap through iconic soundtracks you’re bound to recognise; think the likes of Star Wars and more.
Why are drums so powerful?
As an instrument of pure expression, the drum breaks free from oppression, silence, and limitation. Especially since the golden days of jazz, it has become a symbol of liberation and individuality. Drumming is a visceral act, one that reconnects us with our most primal selves, flooding our bodies with endorphins, because rhythm lives everywhere around us. In the beating of our hearts, the cadence of our steps, even the steady breath that keeps us alive.
Essentially, across all cultures and epochs, drums have served as the strongest tool for just revelation. We call it Drums is a celebration, fusing rhythm and an LED choreography for a night of pulsating emotion.
From the creators of We call it Jazz and We call it Tango, the film industry’s most iconic soundtracks will be reimagined in a whole new light. Your senses won’t just be heightened by sound, but by the glimmer of dancing lights, too.
Set in The Shaw Theatre venue on key dates, the show will open its doors 30 minutes before each performance (one at 7pm and the other at 9pm), giving you time to grab a drink from the bar, find your seat and settle in for the show while the anticipation begins to build.
