‘They look exactly like us. They think like us. They know where we are.’
If you’re looking forward to a 2019 full of crushing self-sabotage and becoming your own worst enemy (who isn’t!) then spare a thought for the family of ‘Us’, the upcoming horror film from Get Out writer/director Jordan Peele.
The unlucky foursome – Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex – have their summer vacation (with buddies Elisabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker) rather spoiled by the arrival of their evil doppelgangers, played by the same cast, and known only as ‘The Tethered’.
From the looks of it, things start to go south pretty quickly, as the family realise that their likenesses must be confronted with whatever violence necessary: ‘They won’t stop until they kill us. Or we kill them.’ It promises to be another stylish, soul-curdling exercise in wide-eyed horror from Peele.
I’ll be waiting ’til it’s out on telly so I can watch it with the lights on, but for all you horror fans, Us arrives in UK cinemas on March 3, 2019.
