A new feature on Secret London. Because it’s almost the weekend, right? And we’re so daaamn thirsty. Each week, round about this sort of time (i.e. the start of the weekend), we’ll release a roundup of 3 bars, pubs or clubs that we think need trying. And we’ll throw in some discounts from our friends at Fever so that it won’t break the bank. This week: a stunning outdoor south London venue, a Trafalgar rooftop bar and a secret little cocktail bar in London Bridge.
1) Paperworks, Elephant and Castle ££££
We think it’s pretty damn beautiful. Surrounded by the rugged urbanity of rusty metalwork and colourful graffiti, Paperworks is a great outdoor venue for a Thursday cocktail. Their innovative menu includes all sorts of tasty creations, which can be sampled for just £5 when you book with Fever. With hot dogs from pop-up kitchenWayne Wong, this one’s an all-evening venue. And just 2 minutes’ walk from Elephant and Castle Underground Station.
2) Vista Bar, Trafalgar Hotel ££££
Sitting pretty atop the Trafalgar Hotel in Trafalgar Square, this one’s that rooftop bar you’ve been craving. Whilst the sun’s out, grab yourself a wrap/hot dog and a beer for £9.99, available until 3:30pm (Mon-Fri). Then, sit back and enjoy a gin cocktail from resident pop-up bar Bloom’s, specialists in all things gin, with beautiful panoramic views of London.
3) Cecil’s, London Bridge ££££
Tucked away in the backstreets of London Bridge, this one concludes our list as one to try when the sun goes down. Open till late, they have a killer menu of Asian-inspired cocktails (from £6) that incorporate all sorts of exotic flavours. With atmospheric live music, it’ll give off that speakeasy-style broody vibe. And if you get peckish, Fever’s sandwich sensation deal will sort you out with 2 focaccia or ciabattas for £6.
Tune in next week for more Thirsty Thursday suggestions. Until then, happy drinking folks!
