Natural History Museum’s stunning rink is open from October 26 and, as always, it’s set to be the most magical and romantic place to be this winter. Skate around the rink’s beautiful centre piece – a stunning, twinkling Christmas tree, and take in the glorious smells of mulled wine and toasted marshmallows in the air. A visit to the Museum’s Ice Rink is a must this festive season. Head over to Fever to reserve your spot on the ice. (See our full guide to ice skating in London this Christmas.) 🌟 Sponsored. 🌟
There’s a weekend FULL of fireworks to kick things off 💥
It’s Bonfire Night on Monday, November 5, but you’ll find dozens of firework displays all over London on Friday, Saturday and Monday. For a free awe-inspiring show, head to Blackheath on November 3 or Waltham Forest on November 5. Otherwise, keep an eye on tickets for impressive displays at Alexandra Palace, Battersea Park and much more. *We will update this page when we have more information*
And there are even MORE fireworks the week after!
Each year the Lord Mayor of London puts on their own epic firework display over the Thames – perfect for those who quite frankly forgot to go out the week before. It takes place on Saturday, November 10 at 5.15pm, with the action taking place between Waterloo and Blackfriars bridges.
Christmas lights start twinkling all over London ✨
London’s beautiful Christmas Lights start switching on in November, with the first switch-on date (so far) being Carnaby Street’s lights on November 8. Keep checking in on our guide to London’s Christmas lights switch-on dates for more details.
Christmas fairs and markets start popping up, too.

London’s terraces get super-cosy
We love a good rooftop bar in the summer, but as we move into November, some of our favourites are proving they’re fun for all seasons with a cosy winter upgrade. Try the Queen of Hoxton’s Parisian rooftop speakeasy, go sliding at Social Fun & Games Club in Stratford, or try to grab a walk-up igloo at Coppa Club, Tower Bridge.
Go for a wonderful woodland walk
Even the natural world is getting in on the festive action, especially in deepest south-west London. Syon Park’s Enchanted Woodland (above) opens November 9 and Kew Gardens lights up for winter, starting November 22.
