From 22nd-28th February, Drink Up London bring us another week to celebrate the joyous pint. Take this as an opportunity to lap up beer, ale, lager and cider by the gallon-full. The week includes a varied line-up of tasting events, beer-making masterclasses, tours, food & beer matches, pop-ups and loads more. To make it easier for you, we’ve listed some things you won’t want to miss…
1. The Sharp’s Brewery Hub, Ely’s Yard
[Citylicious]This is where you’ll find the heart of LBW. Over the course of the week, you’ll find a range of stalls, visiting breweries, events and workshops all happening here. It’s also the place where you can purchase and pick up your wristband, which are £10. With this you’ll have free access to many events going on, plus exclusive food and drink discounts across London. For more info and to purchase a wristband, check out the LBW website.
2. Beer At The Beach Pop Up
[Food Manufacture]Camden Town Brewery have teamed up with Beach London – a Shoreditch illustration and design gallery – to run an exhibition that showcases the beer-making process. Visually pleasing and tantalising on the tastebuds. No actual beach though, soz. ‘The Beach’ is, in fact, the gallery itself. It opens on the 23rd February at 10am and runs until Sunday.
3. Tasting at Sharp’s Secret Bar
[LBW]Wristband holders who somehow manage to find the Secret Bar can experience a free secret tasting session. A big hint from the Londoners who do ‘secrets’ best… hang around the Sharp’s Brewery Hub in Ely’s Yard. The workshop will be run by their expert Sommeliers and will seriously make you reconsider the way you taste a pint.
4. Tasting: CBR 16
Head to the Old Truman Brewery on 26th and 27th February for the perfect combination of music, partying and beer tasting. The place will be crammed with breweries – both established and independent – from across the UK, so this is THE event for hops lovers. Tickets for this event are from £15.
5. House of Peroni Presents… Italian Supperclub
[Union Street Cafe]This one’s for the ultimate lover of Italian food and drink… Peroni Nastro Azzurro is bringing an unbelievable feast to Gordon Ramsay’s Union Street Cafe in Southwark. You’ll be able to get your tastebuds around a Peroni Sour – the cocktail concocted for London Beer Week. For £35, your night will consist of a 3-course meal, inclusive masterclasses and live music at the bar. Fantastico!
5. Czech Club Pop Up
If you haven’t tried Czech beer, you’re seriously missing out. But fear not, because you now have your chance to see what you make of both Pilsner Urquell and Kozel at this exclusive pop-up in Dray Walk, Shoreditch. Entry is free to those with wristbands.
7. Workshop Street Whistling Shop Takeover
[Time Out]On Wednesday 24th February, the East London bar WSWS are taking over The Sharp’s Brewery Hub to bring you a night of music and boozing. For wristband holders, beers are £3 while cocktails are only £5. You also get a chance to try out their special ‘hoptail‘. We can only imagine the taste is… interesting.
And for even more beer fun…
[London Beer Factory]If you haven’t got a wristband, but still wouldn’t mind a pint, then head to the London Beer Factory to enjoy beer the best way – in front of the great game we call rugby. For £12 you can get your Six Nations fix on Saturday 27th of February, alongside 2 pints and a wholesome portion of meatballs. Get your tickets on the Fever app – download it here if you haven’t already.
