Viral sensation, @symmetrybreakfast, is full of some seriously classy food porn.
With nearly 800k followers on Instagram, @symmetrybreakfast is internationally renowned for its colourful and perfectly symmetrical representation of the most important meal of the day. Owner of the account, Michael Zee, started the account while he was living in London – but with no intention of becoming a viral sensation. It actually all began with his love of preparing food for his partner, and making the mornings they spent together extra special.
At first glance, you could be fooled into thinking that they’re all just mirrored images, but it really is just two identical breakfasts. Michael says that, when he eats out, he usually flashes his Instagram at the staff and they’re happy to help prepare the plates to fit the theme. The symmetrical precision that has wowed the ‘gram has also been noticed by Instagram co-founder, Kevin Sysrom, who says “It just shows how you can take the everyday and make it beautiful.”
Sadly, he’s now mainly based in Shanghai, where he moved to chase a job, but he often comes back to visit. Here are a few snaps from his most recent trip:
