In the lead up to Christmas and the New Year, the Shard has become an illuminated spectacle of beams and festive sparkles. Throughout December, the (fourth) tallest building in Europe is joining in the fun with the other Christmas lights in London, lighting up its top 20 storeys, with special displays planned for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
The building will be “shining a light upon Cancer Care” this Christmas, with the hope of raising money for the new Cancer Centre at Guy’s Hospital in London Bridge.
The light displays started on Monday evening, and will be shining every night throughout December. Just like previous years, the lights help busy commuters to get in the festive spirit in the final lead up to Christmas (or serve as a useful–and unmissable–reminder that they should probably buy some presents soon).
Help The Shard countdown to Christmas by entering the daily advent calendar competition, or text LIGHT to 70755 to donate £5 to support the new Cancer Centre at Guy’s Hospital.
