Get a taste of the Highlands at this fantastic craft gin festival, showcasing Scottish gins and mixers.
True OriGINs, an exclusively Scottish gin festival, is heading to Tobacco Dock this November.
Organised by brothers and gin-lovers, Mungo and Guy Finlayson, this four-day fest will celebrate Scottish craft gins “from the stormy shores of Shetland, to the windy Western Isles and the heather hugged hills of the Highlands, all the way back to [the brothers’] home of Aberdeenshire.” A little known fact is that 70% of British gin is actually distilled in Scotland, but True OriGINs is all about authentic spirits that are Scottish through and through.
Each gin has been hand-picked by the Finlaysons, and every single one of them has been distilled and bottled in Scotland. Eight Scottish regions will be represented, with a bar set up for each. So, prepare to set sail on a Scottish adventure like no other. (There are over 80 different gins to try, so chances are it’ll be a pretty tipsy journey of discovery.)
Besides the gin, there’ll also be lots of Scottish scran and live music to keep you fed and entertained. A few masterclasses are also included in the ticket price, but they’re subject to availability, so get in there quick.
Upon entry, guests will be given a glass to fill throughout the day, as well as a ‘Gin Bible’ to live by. This will tell you all about each of the gins you sample. Once you’ve been handed your freebies, you’ll be free to purchase as many gins as you like. However, it’s important to note that True OriGINs is a totally cashless festival (it’s what all the cool kids are doing), so you’ll have to download the TicketCo Wallet app (Apple or Android) and add your gin credit, ready to use at all of the bars. It’s very easy to top-up through the app, and it also keeps a list of what you are/have been drinking! (Handy if your memory gets a bit hazy after a few bevs.) There’ll also be top-up cards available at the festival if you can’t use the app for any reason.
Go on, get your tickets. Aye don’t think you’ll want to miss this one!
