The Sanderson Hotel will have you drinking in a winter wonderland this Christmas.
Storm Caroline, that flighty temptress, is flirting with bringing snow to the UK. However, should she disappoint us, we’ve hit upon a guaranteed way to find flakes. Very fancy hotel the Sanderson has a very fancy bar, and this year they’re whipping up a (snow)storm inside it. This month, The Long Bar will be decorated with fairy lights, leaf-strewn floors, and eddies of falling snow. They’ve even renamed it the Let It Snow bar for the occasion.
Well, that’s one way to have a white Christmas, isn’t it? No chance of snowball fights though, as the snow is synthetic. Actually, the Sanderson would most likely frown on such tomfoolery, so perhaps it’s wise that you can’t be tempted. Still, the chance to walk through a winter forest in the midst of Fitzrovia isn’t something you get to do every day.
Aside from the appeal of snow, one thing you’ll definitely enjoy here is the drinking. The Sanderson have partnered with gin giants Bombay Sapphire to concoct four festive cocktails. Perhaps the fanciest is the French 75, made with Bombay Gin and champagne, but we’re intrigued by the Bubbly Reindeer, which comes garnished with gin & tonic marshmallows. Yes, you did read that last bit correctly.
You can also find a selection of tasty-sounding bar snacks – maple-roasted brussel sprout and bacon skewer, anyone? The Let It Snow bar is open from December 11th until Christmas Eve. Whilst you’re there, be sure to check the hotel’s slightly bizarre Christmas tree. Hey, if it doesn’t make you feel festive, just head back for another round in the snow!
50 Berners St, Fitzrovia, W1T 3NG. Nearest station is Tottenham Court Road.
