Big fan of Spielberg’s goofy 80’s adventure? Or just fancy a movie? Well, there’s possibly no better setting than the atmospheric underground tunnels of the Brunel Museum, with cocktails from Midnight Apothecary. An underground, immersive experience in Rotherhithe (southeast London), this strikes us as the perfect way to get the bank holiday kickstarted on Friday.
The film starts at 8pm, but Midnight Apothecary’s secret candle-lit pop-up will be serving their unique creations from 6pm, until half an hour after the film finishes at 10pm. A great excuse then, to hang up the abacus and tie at work and wave goodbye to the colleagues at 5pm sharp.
One of London’s finest pop-up bars, Midnight Apothecary’s signature cocktails include a raspberry and mint martini, a gin and lavender fizz, and an ‘Eyeballtini’ (we’ll leave you to ponder that one). In fact, this wacky cocktail may well be the perfect accompaniment for a Goonies viewing, just don’t let this guy catch you drinking it –
With just a 4ft entranceway to the underground tunnel, which sits directly beneath The Thames, this event really fits our mantra of Secret London. It’d be a great little venue for a Friday night pre-party, or equally suitable for something chilled (maybe a date?) Tickets can be bought through events discovery app Fever and usually cost £20, including one of Midnight Apothecary’s delicious signature cocktails. However, our partnership with the app means that they’ve once again sent us a select number of reward codes for first time users of the app.
Download Fever and enter the code SECRETGOON (nice, I know) to attend the pop-up film event for £15 and be sipping on that Eyeballtini. We only have 15 codes though, so do it now to avoid disappointment!
