Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a kooky drunk pigeon after one too many over-priced beers? No, it’s actually a man. A real life human being flying over the Thames on a jet pack. Yesterday the UK’s first ever jet pack flight took place over London’s river (the murky brown one that you really wouldn’t want to fall into). We’d rather be jet-packing over the Indian Ocean, but the scummy city water does add that extra ‘thrill factor’.
The Australian daredevil and former commercial pilot, David Mayman, took off from East London’s Royal Victoria dock and continued to float over the 30m high above the river for a few minutes. Hopefully there’ll be a new way to commute to work soon, that won’t involve the Underground…
