Surprise, surprise… London’s travelcards are the most expensive in the world.
[Giphy]According to a Deutsche Bank study comparing 47 cities, our beloved capital has come out on top (yay!) due to its monthly travelcard averaging around the cost of £135 (not so yay). For those of us who are regularly crammed onto carriages and stuffed into armpits before 9am, this comes as little surprise to our wallets.
[Flickr]The world’s second most expensive city is Dublin but even still, London’s travelcards cost a third more. If you’re looking for cheap travel, maybe head to Mumbai? The Indian city came out as the cheapest, where a travelcard equivalent costs just £11. That’s 12 times less. Just think of all the after-work drinks you could afford with that saving!
[Flickr]But the expenses don’t stop there… London is also the 4th most expensive for rent (trust us, we know) and floats in the top 10 most expensive for hotel rooms, gym memberships and cigarettes.
But, although that’s a lot of money, we can’t deny that no matter what, London always has a fond place in our hearts. ❤️
