A disused underground car park is getting a fancy refurb and is opening its doors as London’s newest contemporary theatre next month. The Bunker, a 110-seat subterranean theatre in Southwark, is the brainchild of pals Joshua McTaggart and Joel Fisher, who met at a Young Vic workshop. The launch follows the recent transformation of London Bridge station and the surrounding area, which could be set to become the city’s new cultural hub.
Already on the bill for The Bunker’s first season are Isley Lynn’s Skin a Cat, Tonight with Donny Stixx by Philip Ridley, and Muted by Sarah Henley. Not only will there be fantastic contemporary performances, but there will also be art installations, film screenings, music events and more.
The Bunker, 53a Southwark Street.
