The mysterious trailer for ‘Bandersnatch’ only dropped today…
Netflix has been extremely cagey on the latest instalment of Black Mirror. Set for release tomorrow (Friday, Dec 28), the trailer has only been released 24 hours in advance. Starring Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk), Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing) and Alice Lowe (Sightseers), the description reads simply:
‘In 1984, a young programmer begins to question reality as he adapts a sprawling fantasy novel into a video game and soon faces a mind-mangling challenge.’
It’s widely rumoured that Bandersnatch will function as a choose-your-own-adventure series, with viewers able to select diverging plot branches and explore alternative narratives. (‘Bandersnatch’ was originally thought to be a feature-length film, but it’s now thought there might be up to five hours of footage in order to cover the multiple pathways through the plot.)
This being Black Mirror, you might have your work cut out for you trying to find the ‘happy ending’, but there’s bound to be tons of internet chatter as sofa-bound geeks slice and dice the story for hidden clues. Let a thousand Reddit threads bloom!
