Dust of your spookiest costume (or the same trusty cat ears you’ve donned for the past 10 years) and lace up your dancing shoes, because London’s legendary Natural History Museum is hosting the Halloween party to rival all Halloween parties. As the sun sets and the museum closes its doors to the public, fans of all things frightening can step into the hallowed halls of the iconic South Kensington building for a night at the museum like never before.
On October 31 – AKA the spookiest night of the year – party-goers will have the chance to explore the museum’s fascinating galleries after-hours (without a child in sight), and find out more about the weird and wonderful creatures (and the slightly misunderstood members) of our natural world.
Those feeling particularly brave can opt to join one of the museum’s behind-the-scenes tours. The ‘Tank Room Tour’ will give visitors a peek at their impressive spirit collection. And when they say spirit, they don’t mean the supernatural type. Get up close and personal with the plethora of jars and tanks filled with of specimen from across the world preserved in alcohol – one of which is the pretty hefty eight-metre-long giant squid, Archie. There’s also the option to join the ‘Spooky Tour’ which will take you on expertly-guided tour of the museum’s all-time strangest specimens. Tickets to Halloween at the Museum also include access to their world-renowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
Once you’ve explored to your heart’s content, it will be time to disco dance with the dinosaurs in Earth Hall. Guests can join Sophie the Stegosaurus skeleton at the silent disco, where they’ll be kitted out with wireless headsets, simultaneously playing battling DJs. So, pop on your headset, pick your favourite channel, and get ready to throw some serious (silent) shapes on the dance floor until the end of the night.
Tickets for Halloween at the Museum are on sale now, starting at £36 for members and £40 for non members. Find out more and book your tickets to Halloween at the Museum here.
