Grab a slice of the action at this giant pizza party.
Ten of the best pizza makers in London. All under one roof. Falling over each other to impress you the most. Someone has been listening to our prayers, for they have certainly been answered. In honour of National Pizza Day, food magazine and all-around good guys Foodism have elected to throw a huge pizza party. Isn’t that nice of them?
The impressively Italian celebration is taking place on February 8th, at Hawker House in Canada Water. Usually home to a branch of Street Feast, it’s been graciously handed over to the pizza maestros of London for the night. They’ll serve up slices with panache in what looks set to be the all-star game of pizza-making. Vendors have come from all corners of the capital, some via Italy, all with the intention of stuffing your face full of pizza.
Flying the red, white, and green for Italy are L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele. Their Naples branch is revered for making the best pizza in the world; having set up in Stoke Newington, expect them to bring their A-game. Radio Alice, who swapped Bologna for Hoxton and Clapham, will add their sensational pizzas to the mix. Hometown faves Pizza Pilgrims will use the wisdom gleaned from their pilgrimage across Italy to whip up some top creations, whilst Born & Raised will serves pizzas out of the back of their converted Land Rover.
Mountains of pizza are undoubtedly good for the soul, but it’s important to balance that with something sweet. Thankfully, you’ll be taken care of here. Chin Chin Labs are famous for their stunning marshmallow-encased hot chocolates, but Foodism are hinting at something appropriately stunning. Meanwhile, Nonna’s Gelato have created something truly magnificent – an ice cream pizza. Yes indeed. A brioche base, basil and cheese-infused ice cream, sweet tomato coulis, and candied basil leaves go into concocting this. Sure, it sounds unholy, but the rumours are that it’s amazing.
Tickets to the pizza party will set you back £15, and you can find them here. They’ll get you entry and two drinks, but you’ll have to buy slices separately. Come on though, it’s possibly the biggest pizza festival to hit south London – like you’re going to miss that!
