Do you have an ongoing love affair with vino? Well, fellow wine worshippers, there’s a treat coming your way this May.
Monday 14th May marks the beginning of a week-long celebration of the glorified grape juice, and it will literally be taking over the capital. Yes, that’s right, London Wine Week is back again, and it’s bringing us vino by the truckload in all its colourful, aromatic and regional varieties.
DrinkUp.London, the brains behind the operation, have been running London Wine Week for five years now, and it’s getting bigger and better every year. This time around, they’re moving to a brand new hub in Flat Iron Square, near London Bridge, which will be transformed into a stunning, summer garden filled with pop-up wine bars. Look out for the Muscadet truck from Loire Valley Wines, Freixenet’s vintage van serving up rosé fizz, Pol Roger’s award-winning Champagne, and Graham’s white port and tonics (2018’s trendiest summer drink, don’t cha know).
Whether you like it pink, white, red or sparkling, there’s no doubt that there’ll be something for everyone at London Wine Week. And don’t worry if you don’t actually know that much about wine – there will be plenty of tastings and masterclasses to get you up to speed. Across the city, more than 125 of the best wine bars will also be offering bespoke wine tastings and ‘sip and snack’ food pairings for everyone with a festival pass, for just £5.
So how do you get your hands on one of these magical passes?
Well, it’s actually very easy. Just head over to the Fever app and purchase one for £10. This entitles you to £5 mini wine tastings in over 125 bars across London, as well as discounted wines at the Hub.
You’ll find the Hub at Flat Iron Square, 68 Union Street, SE1 1TD. And you can find more information about what bars are taking part on the DrinkUp.London app.
