Earlier this week, it was announced that the Mayor of London plans to spend £20 million in a scheme to light up 17 of the major bridges along the River Thames, from Chelsea’s Albert Bridge to the City’s Tower Bridge. The permanent art installation will be called The Illuminated River. Sounds rather pretty, we think. And is sure to look it too!
The planned proposal invites artists, designers and engineers to enter a competition in order to come up with the most environmentally friendly way to deliver a gorgeous display. Sadiq Khan said, “this is a really exciting opportunity to breathe new life through the heart of London each night in a new, permanent, fluid light art installation across the capital’s historic bridges.”
Hey, if it’s environmentally friendly AND looks this beautiful, we’re in!
