All your commuting dreams of wondering exactly what you’re travelling under may well be answered very soon! Say whaaatttt! Uh huhhh, tube lines on London’s pavements might actually soon be a thing. But don’t get too excited yet. All we have for you at the moment is a sneak peek of ‘Streetlines’ – a creative campaign by student Jamie Quantrill, which involves marking out each London Underground route to make it much easier to get from A to B by foot. Clever.
In response to a brief by Ford at the D&AD design and advertising awards, the 22-year-old Londoner came up with the idea after he was caught out by…drum roll please…you’re never going to get this…oh wait, yeh you guessed it – a tube strike last summer. He wanted to show commuters that most stations in central London are within walking distance. And yes, while this may seem like a remarkably simple idea (which none of you lot came up with, did ya), it impressed this year’s judges so much that it picked up the rather aggressively named New Blood Award which recognises talented students and graduates. Fingers and toes crossed for this one. We know we could spend hours following them around the city…
