So after a rather bad start to the summer (weather-wise), we’ve finally been having some spells of sun around the capital. And in the coming week, it looks like we’re going to reach the levels of Barcelona, meaning we won’t have to jet off for the kind of temperatures we usually have to flee London for.
According to BBC Weather, London is set to enjoy something of a mini-heatwave this weekend and early next week, with temperatures set to equal that of Barcelona on Sunday (August 11) and exceed them on Monday (August 12). Shame that many of us will be chained to a desk when it’s sunny out on Monday and won’t even have access to a beach afterwards (you got us there, Barcelona), but it’ll be nice to catch some rays anyhow!
It’s due to hit 29°C on Sunday, which is the same as in the beautiful Spanish city, and then if forecasts stay the same, London will overtake it as it hits 31°C on Monday, whereas Barcelona will have to settle for mere 30°C.
Savour it while you can, though. For us Londoners, it’ll all drop down to a still-nice-and-toasty 26°C on Tuesday (August 13), which is in my opinion, an optimum temperature in the humid land of London. Barcelona will stick around in the 30s on that same day, while it continues to fall around here.
We’ll hopefully get some more barbecue and Ray-Bans weather around here after this, but for now lets enjoy the mini-heatwave while we can because who knows when it’ll be back. Just PLEASE come back for the bank holiday weekend if you can, sunshine in London.
Keep up to date on BBC Weather for any changes, and take care during the points of the day when the sun is at its highest 11am-3pm. Wear SPF and stay hydrated, team.
