Just Five Smashing Things To Do At Citadel This Weekend

Citadel Festival 2017

Citadel Festival is back at Hackney’s Victoria Park this Sunday. Here’s what to look forward to…

1) Rock out to Foals

After touring to near omnipresence in 2016, the Oxford math-rock-to-massive-rock converts have kept a lower profile this year, which means this is now your only opportunity to catch the guys play a UK festival in 2017. Their potent mix of bouncy bops, spacey ballads and all-out bangers makes for an unmissabble headline set. And there are a ton of other great bands to see, too:

2) Have a Häus party

Jägermeister are hosting their very own indoor stage this year! There’ll be DJ sets from Wild Beasts and Everything Everything, plus live performanes from Tigercub, Sacred Paws, She Drew The Gun and more. Plus there’ll be Jägermeister cocktails flowing freely and undercover places to chill out if the sun or the sleet demands.

Elsewhere on site you’ll find stages from Corona, Smirnoff, and even Cherry Cola, each hosting their own line-up of acts.

3) Experience some instant chemistry

Not content with curating the arts, this year’s Citadel features a ‘guerilla science’ strand. You can take part in a workshop, learn how to have lucid dreams, or give a stranger a sniff in a highly-scientific speed-dating event. (We imagine it’s much better to try this at a one-dayer than Day 4 of Glastonbury.)

4) Eat and eat and eat and eat

Festivals mean dancing, dancing means hunger. Lucky for you there’s an embarrassment of culinary pop-uppery this weekend – a burger battle between Le Bun and Patty & Bun on the fast food side, on other other you can dig into roast lamb, ravioli, ostrich meatballs or (gluten-free!) pizza to name just a few. Is there a proseccco van? YES THERE IS A PROSSECCO FAN.

5) Pimp a pineapple

Plus there’s kids raves, 80s workouts, theatre, talks and more besides. Tickets are about £55 from Ticketmaster.
