Confermata la lista completa delle chiusure di negozi nel Regno Unito per il 2025 – Sainsbury’s, M&S, Poundland, WH Smith e altri dicono addio

Nel 2025 un’ondata di chiusure sta investendo le strade del Regno Unito, con nomi noti e amati locali che chiudono i battenti a un ritmo allarmante.

Le chiusure elencate sono solo una parte di una crisi più ampia che sta investendo le strade principali del Regno Unito nel 2025. Secondo l’allarme lanciato dal British Retail Consortium (BRC), ben 400 dei più grandi negozi britannici, tra cui supermercati e grandi magazzini con un valore imponibile superiore a 500.000 sterline, sono a rischio di chiusura se il governo dovesse portare avanti una nuova fascia di tassazione più alta per le imprese.

Il BRC cita l’impennata dei costi del lavoro, le tasse elevate e l’aumento delle tariffe come pressioni continue che hanno già portato 1.000 negozi di questo tipo a chiudere negli ultimi cinque anni.

Se tutti i 400 negozi a rischio dovessero fallire, il BRC stima che si potrebbero perdere fino a 100.000 posti di lavoro, mentre i comuni perderebbero “ben più” di 100 milioni di sterline all’anno in entrate dalle tariffe commerciali.

Il Consorzio esorta ora il Cancelliere Rachel Reeves a utilizzare il bilancio autunnale per attuare una riforma delle tariffe commerciali “senza semplicemente scaricare i costi sui negozi più grandi, il che sarebbe estremamente dannoso per le nostre strade principali”. Questi grandi retailer sono fondamentali per la salute delle strade e dei centri commerciali, in quanto sostengono un terzo di tutti i lavoratori del commercio al dettaglio e generano un flusso pedonale vitale a livello locale.
