Is This Interactive Route Planner The Best Alternative London Tube Map Yet?

We’ve seen our fair share of alternative tube maps over the past few months; from wankers to property prices, they’ll either make you laugh or cry but chances are they won’t make navigating around London any easier… But this latest offering designed by web developer Peter Trotman is totally interactive (and strangely simple to use, once you get past the initial shock). We’re converted.

It looks nothing like the original but it reads much easier: all you’ve got to do is double-click on the station where you are starting your journey from and you’ll be able to see how far other stations are from you, as well as specific journey times both on the map and in the sidebar in the original version.

It may take some getting used to but after playing around for a while on the map, the Secret London team are fans. Now, if only there was an app for this…

  1. Yeah, but this is the 2006 map. My local station, New Cross has the old Shoreditch as it’s terminus and Heathrow Terminal 5 is missing
