Hoppers are bringing a second branch of their award-winning Sri Lankan restaurant to Marylebone this September.
Opening on September 12th, this second restaurant will be bigger than its Soho counterpart, with opportunities to dine al fresco, as well as more room for group dining and family feasting, true Sri Lankan style.
Much like their Soho restaurant, the new branch will focus on Hopper’s famous dish, a bowl-shaped pancake made from fermented rice batter and coconut milk, and the dosa, made from a ground rice and lentils.
Alongside these signature dishes will be a brand new bunch of feasting dishes, to reflect the larger space at St Christopher’s Place. The feasting menu will feature the likes of Banana Leaf Roasted Plaice, Green Mango and Madras Onion Sambol and Jaffna Lamb Cutlets with Cucumber Mooli Sambol, as well as the option to order the ‘Taste of Hoppers’ menu, offering a few favourites from the menu.
On the flip side, there’ll also be a selection of small plates, or ‘Short Eats’ designed to accompany drinks. These will include Bone Marrow Varuval, Roti; Jaffna Beef Rib Fry; and Idli, Sambhar, Podi, Coconut Chutney.
Besides the food there will also be a wonderful menu of cocktails inspired by Sri Lanka’s spice gardens, including alcoholic milkshakes and sharing cocktails.
The new Hoppers St Christopher’s Place restaurant opens on September 12th at 77 Wigmore Street, Marylebone, W1U 1QE. Keep and eye out for when reservations open (yes, unlike at their Soho branch, you’ll actually be able to book in advance)!
? Talking of famous London restaurants opening new branches, Dishoom are opening a fifth branch and it’s their biggest yet ?
