Get Your Tan On! 6 of the Best Rooftop Bars in London

share on:

Sorry, what did you say? You’ve got too much work on or something? Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you up here over all the sunshine. Who cares whether it makes sense, I have a Mojito. Anyway, here’s 6 of the best in case you do decide to hit up a rooftop bar.

1) Madison, St Paul’s

[About Time Magazine]
Striding through the One New Change Shopping Centre, one of your friends will probably grab you and say, “are you sure it’s this way, this is a shopping centre.” Laugh in their face and take them up the lift to the top floor, where they’ll gawp at stunning views of St. Paul’s and lap up the classy cocktails served.

2) The Bloom Gin Rooftop Bar at Vista, Trafalgar Square

[Time Out]
Yep, an entire bar dedicated to gin at the top of The Trafalgar Hotel, thanks to Bloom’s ginvasion of the Vista bar. If you’re ginquisitive, give it a go. Book now with our friends at Fever for an exclusive £9.99 lunch deal looking out over the city.

3) Queen of Hoxton, Hoxton (surprisingly)

[Cool Places]
So… We’ve all been down there in QoH’s dark basement club at 2am on a Saturday night dancing to murky beats (no, just me?), about as far away from a rooftop as one can be. Well, this multi-story Hoxton establishment also has a beautiful sun-bathed rooftop bar. They show films in the evenings too.

4)    Frank’s Cafe, Peckham

[Events Ambience]
Sitting pretty at the top of a 10-story car park in Peckham, Frank’s Cafe is so much more than its name suggests. Serving up a neat menu of trendy snacks, they’ve got all sorts of Meantime beers and cocktails. And they’re big on their Campari, which suits us just fine. Art installations from Bold Tendencies attract a creative crowd and the pilgrimage to Peckham is fast becoming something of a summer ritual. Try it out, and you’ll understand why.

5)  Sushisamba, City

[NY Post]
You’ve probably heard of the Sushisamba restaurant, but you may not know about the amazing rooftop terrace bar they lay claim to at the top of the Heron Tower. Drinks prices are almost as steep as the tower, but if you take a date here they’ll be really, really impressed.

6) Sanctum Soho Hotel Roof Garden, Soho

The Roxx guys are back, and they’re throwing some pretty unmissable summer parties every Saturday at the gorgeous rooftop on Sanctum Soho Hotel. All their events last summer sold out and tomorrow’s party is sold out too (we think it might have something to do with the hot tub)… But download our favourite events discovery app Fever to be in the know, where they will be selling tickets for the Saturday party every week of the summer. We’ve given you a heads up – you’ve got no excuses now.

7) Kensington Roof Gardens, Kensington

Get your snooty pants on, this is a high-brow final choice. Amazing for a sit-down meal or an evening drink, the roof top gardens, which date back to 1936, have panoramic views over West London, from Battersea Power Station to the London Eye and Wembley. With a Spanish garden, a Tudor-style garden and an English-style woodland area, it’s basically the most enchanting little pocket of greenery you’ll ever find at six floors up. Pop in for a cocktail or book a table at the Babylon restaurant. You won’t regret it.
