Never fear, the Sphere is here.
If the O2 is just that bit intimate for you, perhaps this new stadium design will grab you by the, uh, ball.
According to a report in the Guardian, the Madison Square Garden company have commissioned architects Populous to design a new event space for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – and the outsized orb above is what they’ve come up with.
The huge sphere, which is raised above ground by three legs, would stand over 130 metres high and offer capacity for 20,000 spectactors, and sit on land currently owned by Westfield.
MSG, Populous and Westfield all declined to comment to the Guardian. Read the full report here.
