If there was ever a time to make a film about gin, it is now. The gin market is booming, and sales of the juniper juice exceeded £1bn for the first time last year. Gin: The Movie is certainly nothing like anything we’ve ever seen before, but that’s mostly because nobody had ever even thought about doing anything like it before. Until World of Gin had a lightbulb moment, of course.
The docufilm follows the story of gin; meeting the people behind it and visiting various distilleries around the UK, including Hayman’s Gin, William’s Chase Distillery, Edinburgh Gin and many more. It premiered in London last night (Thursday 19th) at The Courthouse Hotel, but will now embark on a tour around the country, where they’ve teamed up with independent cinemas to show the film. All cinemagoers will get a hamper of gin samples, tonic and mixer samples, botanicals, garnishes, etc. Errrr, yes please!
It’s showing at Whirled Cinema in Brixton on Mondays and Tuesdays this month. Click here for more info.
