A rose by any other name would smell as sweet… But nothing tastes as sweet as London’s latest afternoon tea creation at The Lancaster. Just in time to coincide with the darling buds of May, the Lancaster’s switching bags of flour for the real thing at this absolutely beautiful flower-themed tea…
Why send flowers when you can eat them instead? Fill your pockets full of posies and your stomachs with Lavendar chocolate mousse cake or the white chocolate macaroons topped with crystallised violets. Feast like bees on a tangy lime and elder-flower trifle, blossoming with edible flowers.
Or if you’re feeling more traditional there’s the classic raisin scones with strawberry jam, clotted cream or a delectably nectar-sweet orange blossom jam to get you transported straight into one of Oscar Wilde’s gossiping gardens.
The savoury is possibly even more flourishing with Lancaster London’s own home-smoked salmon roses on rye bread and Coronation chicken served on sweet cranberry bread. There’s also a warm tart-let of English asparagus with saffron and sun-blushed tomatoes offering a rather exotic scent. Or delight in delicious Sunflower seeded choux buns with wild mushroom, truffle oil and cream cheese, fresh with wild British woodland flavours.
And, of course, there’s booze. Make your Flower Afternoon Tea all the more luscious with a glass of Pommery Champagne.
The blossoming tea is served in the hotel’s sumptuous first floor Lounge Bar from 2pm until 5.30pm, Wednesday 3 May until Wednesday 31 May 2017. The tea is priced at £30 per person and £45 with a glass of Pommery Champagne included. The Flower Afternoon Tea is also available as a Flower ARTea, priced from £35 per person with dishes delivered in a painter’s box and food served on slates alongside jam & clotted cream concealed in 30ml paint tubes.
