A Fabulous Floating Cinema Is Docking In London This Summer
Central London’s beautiful marina is getting into the swing of summer with their famed floating cinema.
Lazy summers on the water is really the best way to while away an evening. But if you don’t have a yacht to hand, we’ve found something equally seaworthy. St Katharine Docks are bringing back their floating film festival for another summer on the waves, and we think it’s amongst the best outdoor cinemas in London. As any Hollywood type will surely tell you, a floating cinema is the best kind of cinema.
This particular floating cinema runs from July 16th-29th, initially with a heavy focus on recent releases. Black Panther, Dunkirk, The Greatest Showman, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri run in the first week, before the classics rock up later on. Summer stalwarts like Clueless, Back to the Future, Dirty Dancing, and The Breakfast Club will satisfy your nostalgia. These wonders on the water make for a particularly strong lineup. The floating cinema will be screening Wimbledon matches in the weeks before the film festival arrives, so sports fans are well catered for too.
The pontoon is strewn with deck chairs, beanbags, and fairy lights, so your floating cinema experience will be a comfy one. Meanwhile, the pontoon bar will sell popcorn, hot dogs, and the most crucial part of the experience: G&Ts. The floating cinema is shipshape, so landlubbers should come along and test out their sea legs!
