Field Day Lands In South London With A Hot New Lineup For 2018
Brockwell Park will host some big names at Field Day Festival this June.
Though it was displaced from Victoria Park by the ten-day extravaganza that is All Points East, the forward-thinking London music festival Field Day didn’t waste much time finding new digs. They’ve scored a spot in Brixton’s Brockwell Park to host a two-day festival this summer, and this morning the full lineup was revealed. More than seventy acts will play across June 1 & 2, and here are some of the highlights:
Headlining Field Day this year is soul star Erykah Badu, who’ll light up Brockwell in the Friday night slot. Twenty-one years after the release of her storming debut Baduizm, this is her only UK performance for 2018, so grab the opportunity whilst you can. Mercury-prize nominee Loyle Carner can also be seen on Friday night, performing a triumphant set in his home borough.
On Saturday, Field Day are erecting their famous Barn, a massive indoor space with state-of-the-art sound system and lighting. This is the setting for Four Tet‘s quite literally barn-storming electronic set, certain to be a festival highlight. Also bringing the noise on Saturday is Thundercat, flush with success from his acclaimed 2017 album Drunk.
Other festival highlights include a UK festival exclusive set from Fever Ray, making a return to music after eight years in the wilderness. Singer and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg will make a graceful appearance, whilst Nils Frahm will bring his unique blend of classic and electronic music to the stage. Meanwhile, the boys from Brentford’s finest pirate radio station Kurupt FM will stop by for what is sure to be an entertaining set.
