Yes, that’s right. It’s called Darkhorse. We’re hilarious.
With food inspired by Italy and Spain, this hot new restaurant in London’s hot new neighbourhood will have you weak at the knees.
Hop on the Central line, the Jubilee line, the DLR or the Overground, and make your way to Stratford’s East Village for the mightiest, meatiest night of your life (as exaggerations go, this one isn’t too far off). Start the night with some kick-ass starters, such as tasty tiger prawns, spicy chorizo or charcoal lamb and merguez sausage with feta and pomegranate (that last one’s a winner). Partner them up with some amazing cocktails, before making the near-impossible decision re: what to eat for the main event.
Choices include the likes of Guinea Fowl with dauphinoise, Hake in a white wine and mussel broth, or a big ole’ 700g Rib Eye sharing steak with the juiciest tomatoes you ever did see. Clearly, we went for the latter. Grab yourself some tasty sides (seriously recommend the rosemary and garlic roasties) and a nice bottle of red, and you’ve nailed it.
Don’t be so hasty as to leave before dessert, it’d be silly not to stay when the menu is as good as it is. Each dessert comes matched with a delicious cocktail… if you haven’t had enough of the hard stuff, that is (boo to you, there’s no such thing). Really though, how else would you discover that a Confit Chestnut Bakewell Tart goes absolutely marvellously with a Mai Tai?
You’ll find Darkhorse at 16 Victory Parade, East Village, E20 1FS, just a short walk from Stratford station. Disclaimer: you’ll have to walk through Westfield Shopping Centre, so no promises that you’ll a) get there in one piece or b) not get distracted by Sephora or Missguided.
