Brits might just eat sandwiches more than any other type of food. We might even not think about it half the time as we quickly package one together for lunch – but when they’re good, they’re gooooooooodddddddddd. We’ve come a long way since the simple wafer of ham between two slices of bread – and since it’s approaching the end of the year, that means it’s time for the Christmas sarnie era.
And for this year’s festive season, London will welcome its first-ever festival dedicated entirely to Christmas sandwiches, which is all set to pop up in the city on November 15-17.
Rolling into Copeland Park in Peckham, the Christmas sandwich edition of Sarnie Party is set to deliver a slice of festive spirit, with over 20 top chefs getting the coats and their grills out to serve up their best variants of the beloved dish. Wash down your sarnie with a mulled drink and you’ll be swinging your hips to Bing Crosby and whacking on Home Alone when you get back to your flat.
A rotating lineup of festive sarnies will be on offer, with numbers from Ruben’s Reubens, The Black Pig, Finks, Paulie’s Bagels, Lil Wong Bakes and many more. You’ll find the signature ingredients of turkey, stuffing and cranberry slapped in many a sandwich, but given the names on show, you can expect twists on the classics with further additions thrown in to give you a festive flurry of flavour.
Speaking on the event, Molly Hutchinson, co-founder of Sarnie Party said: “We’ve been working on Sarnie Party, Christmas Special since we created the Sarnie Party brand earlier this year. It feels like the perfect opportunity to host some amazing sandwich shops serving up some bespoke Christmas Sandwiches all whilst kicking off the festive season – what’s not to love. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to Copeland Park, Peckham this November for what will be the first of many Sarnie Party, Christmas Specials.”
Sarnie Party: Christmas Sandwich Special lands at Copeland Park (133 Copeland Road, SE15 3SN) in Peckham on November 15-17. Find out more and book your place here. Tickets cost £30 and come with tokens to three festive sandwich helpings at the different stands.
