‘Tis the season to spread cheer and help others, and this charity pop-up is the perfect place to start!

Pop-ups come in all shapes, sizes, and styles, and we do love to write about them. But rather than a new foodie joint, or a place to pet cute animals, the new ‘Choose Love’ pop-up in Soho offers a way to do some real good in the world.

Why? Well, they’ll be selling emergency blankets, medical equipment, and lifejackets, amongst other things. And whilst you don’t need those things to survive the Central line, there are people worldwide in desperate need of them. Everything you buy here will be sent to vulnerable refugees across Europe and the Middle East.

Helping out is as simple as picking an item, taking the tag to the till, and then leaving empty-handed. Sure, it’s going to feel weird buying things and leaving without them, but you’ll get over it.

The store is being run by Help Refugees, a humanitarian aid organisation that works on the frontlines of the refugee crisis, offering rapid response to urgent needs. Each item comes with a description of how it helps vulnerable refugees. You’ll also be able to find out more about the work of Help Refugees from the shop staff.

Items range in price from £4.99 all the way up to £499. If you’re feeling especially charitable, and have the funds, you can buy the whole store. Think of the warm fuzzy feeling that would give you! The charity pop-up was created by Glimpse, who are well-known for bringing joy to the world. They had grand plans to replace tube station adverts with cat posters, and did just that, eventually masterminding this purrfect takeover of Clapham Common tube station.

You’ve got more than enough reasons to head along, but here’s another sweetener. From time to time, celebrity staff will be working in the store, and we hear they’re expecting some big names. This is one you definitely need to head along to, particularly if you’re looking to improve your karma in the run-up to Christmas!

Although Alex spent most of his life in Somerset and Durham, London is (almost) in his name, so he relocated to Clapham and fell in love with it. However, this has put him dangerously close to Infernos... You'll find him eating all of London's street food, lost in a bookshop, or shouting at his beloved ice hockey team, the Minnesota Wild.
