Cause Some Treble At 5 of London’s Coolest Karaoke Bars!

Sometimes a night in the pub just wont cut it. If you weren’t quite ready to audition for the X-Factor this year, but need a way to give your vocal chords a workout without embarrassing yourself in front of the entire nation, then karaoke is the answer. Plus, unlike the X Factor, drinking is encouraged while singing. Alcohol only enhances your performance, right?

1. Bunga Bunga

This ever-busy and popular venue in Battersea takes an Italian pizzeria, adds a lively gondola bar, throws in some crazy furniture and quirky interiors and, once you’re buzzed, gives you a chance to cantare your little heart out. Come 10pm as the night should be winding down, Bunga Bunga crank it back up a notch by handing out the karaoke menus and encouraging guests to take the stage. The menu has all your classic crowd pleasers such as Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now or (a personal favourite) Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. Let’s kick it!

37 Battersea Bridge Rd, London SW11 3BA

2. Karaoke Box

With locations in Mayfair, Smithfield and Soho, Karaoke Box (or Boxes?) are dedicated entirely to singing with private karaoke rooms available for hire, which makes it the perfect venue for a group night out. The plushness of the rooms vary ever-so-slightly between locations, with the Mayfair branch, quite obviously, being the most fancy of the lot. As well as the karaoke rooms, Karaoke Box boasts a fully equipped cocktail bar and extensive drinks menu to keep you ‘hydrated’ all evening/

As well as a football table, N64 and private bar, you can also have a go on the karaoke machine and impress your friends with your fabulous rendition of Britney’s Piece of Me. Don’t despair once you’ve truly murdered a hit 90s classic but instead comfort yourself with Heist Bank’s fantastic pizza (pictured above) and beer selection!

4. Lucky Voice

Self-acclaimed as the most liberating, heart-racing, life-affirming private karaoke experience in the world (in their words) we wonder how deep the song list must be for karaoke to become ‘life-affirming’. We can imagine there’s a lot of Adele and Oasis. With your choice between permanent venues in Soho or Islington you can ‘liberate yourself’ across central London belting out your Long Island Ice Tea induced versions of Hello and Wonderwall. Open until 3am between Thursdays and Saturdays just don’t get too carried away pretending you’re Liam Gallagher… Cos maaaaaaaaaybe you’ll have to get the night-bus home! Get an hour of karaoke plus a two hour bottomless brunch for £30 over on Fever.

5. The Old School Yard

This London Bridge cocktail bar will take you back to your school days: minus the bullies and the homework + booze and karaoke = never-ending playtime! Filled with retro arcade games, funky decor and school-themed cocktails, just choose a McFly or Busted song and really take home that childhood nostalgia. In fact, stay out as late as you like – we won’t tell your mum!
