Oh, buoy, do we have a treat for you. Down by the River Thames, yacht club stalwart, Little Ship Club, will welcome two candlelight concerts next month. The only sailing club in the City of London borough, the venue sits just by Southwark Bridge, and on March 11 and March 18, will be illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight. If you’re a fan of Lady Gaga, Oasis, or both, grab yourself some tickets to hear their hits reimagined by classical musicians.
First up, on March 11, a classical pianist will reimagine Lady Gaga’s most recognisable tunes over the course of an hour. They’ll be no Bad Romances here: you’ll no doubt fall in love with the piano versions of Paparazzi, Telephone, and consequently, Bad Romance. If the Gallagher brothers are more your speed, a week later, on March 18, Little Ship Club will host an evening of Oasis hits, performed by pianist and violinist duo. Expect to hear classical covers of Don’t Look Back In Anger, Roll With It and Wonderwall.
On each night, there’ll be two shows – one at 6.30pm, the other at 8.30pm – so you can choose a time most suited to your evening. You’ll be in the heart of London, after all – why not catch a meal before or after the performance, depending on the time you choose?
Little Ship Club was founded nearly 100 years ago, in 1926, and today, hosts RYA-recognised boating sessions, club nights, and weddings. The versatile space will be transformed into the most intimate of settings, with the hundreds of candles flickering in the darkened venue; both eyes and ears will be enchanted. Tickets are available now for Candlelight: A Tribute To Lady Gaga and Candlelight: A Tribute to Oasis by the Thames.
