Come for the Breddos, stay for the frozen margaritas.
Being a London millennial, having a basement to convert into an uber-cool hangout spot is a mere fantasy. Still, if ever I had such an opportunity, I’d definitely emulate Breddos Tacos and turn my basement into a margarita-soaked cocktail den. Having space to play with at their Soho spot, they decided the only logical choice was to turn it into Cocteleria, a cocktail bar with Latin flair that opens on November 1st.
Sod designing my own basement, I just want need this one. Breddos have unveiled a cracking cocktail list, which, aside from the fab frozen margaritas, is chock full of winners. For instance, they’re putting a Japanese spin on the classic margarita, by flavouring it with wasabi and dusting with a soy salt rim. I reckon the standout has to be the White Espresso Martini, made with horchata, and set to woo the capital’s horde of espresso martini lovers.
Cocteleria will also serve Micheladas – the Mexican twist on beer, flavoured with Tabasco and served in pints. Whilst the majority of the food is served upstairs, the basement will have a small range of Breddos’ legendary tacos available, presumably to soak up all those spirits. Best of all, to celebrate opening night, they’re giving away frozen margaritas from 5:30 until 9pm. And with that, I’m off to sweet talk my downstairs neighbours into letting me turn their flat into my own cocteleria – just need to get the landlord on board now…
Location: 26 Kingly Street, Soho, W1B 5QD. Nearest station is Oxford Circus. See it on Google Maps.
Opening hours: 5:30pm-midnight (Wed to Sat). Cocteleria opens on November 1st.
