If you go down to the Barbican Centre today you’re sure of a big surprise… A rainforest paradise is hidden away inside their epic conservatory, and now you can visit for bottomless booze afternoon tea! Every Sunday the Barbican gives you the chance to sip Prosecco and munch scones surrounded by over 2,000 species of tropical plants and trees.
Not only does the setting look insanely cool (did someone say Instagram opportunity?) the afternoon tea itself definitely doesn’t disappoint. The impressive selection of cakes, pastries and, of course, perfectly cut finger sandwiches are all washed down with an unlimited amount of Prosecco. As if we had to say any more than that!
The menu takes you on a journey through their tropical garden with coconut and kaffir lime chicken sandwiches, lemon thyme and date palm scones, orange and lavender cake, and pear and cardamom loaf. We love a good afternoon tea here at Secret London HQ, and this one ticks all of the boxes while also offering something a little different.
You’ll need to book ahead because places fill up quickly. You might even say they’re here today scone tomorrow! (Sorry, couldn’t resist that one). Just make sure you don’t delay! Oh, and if you’re interested in finding out more about the garden, you can join one of the weekly tours (which also happen to take place every Sunday) to get some insider information from the resident gardeners. The perfect Sunday day-trip!
You’ll find the conservatory at Silk St, Barbican, EC2Y 8DS
