Give a poor Londoner a pizza and you feed them for a day; teach them how to make pizza and you feed them for a lifetime. (Unless they’re into expensive Caputo 00 organic flour and can’t afford to make the dough). But you catch our drift. These masterclasses combine an entertaining evening with a new skill-set. If you fancy doing something different one night out with your friends or colleagues, then look no further.
1. Become a Gin Master
[Merchant House]At the Merchant House bar, you’ll break all of the classroom rules. Here, drinking alcohol is highly encouraged. The Gin Masterclass will give you the low-down on the finest gins across Europe. It includes 5 tasters plus a nip of a Vintage gin bottled as far back at the 1950s. Don’t worry, there will be no examination during the workshop. And good job too – you’ll probably be a little tiddly. Their next Gin Masterclass is tonight (Monday 7th March) at 7.30pm. Tickets are £20 and can be bought through Fever.
2. Throw some pizza dough
[Rossopomodoro]For the wisest pizza knowledge straight out of Naples, sign up to one of Rossopomodoro‘s Pizza making masterclasses. Sip on wine as you mix, knead and stretch fresh pizza dough. You’ll take home enough dough to make 4 pizzas, but don’t worry, after the class on the night you’ll get to chow down on a selection of Rosso’s own pizza, prepared by their chefs. (Let’s be honest, your first attempt probably won’t be up to standard). Bellissimo! Rossopomodoro have various restaurants across London. Check their website for the latest events.
