5 Of London’s Best Masterclasses To Give You More Reasons To Show Off

Give a poor Londoner a pizza and you feed them for a day; teach them how to make pizza and you feed them for a lifetime. (Unless they’re into expensive Caputo 00 organic flour and can’t afford to make the dough). But you catch our drift. These masterclasses combine an entertaining evening with a new skill-set. If you fancy doing something different one night out with your friends or colleagues, then look no further.

1. Become a Gin Master

[Merchant House]
At the Merchant House bar, you’ll break all of the classroom rules. Here, drinking alcohol is highly encouraged. The Gin Masterclass will give you the low-down on the finest gins across Europe. It includes 5 tasters plus a nip of a Vintage gin bottled as far back at the 1950s. Don’t worry, there will be no examination during the workshop. And good job too – you’ll probably be a little tiddly. Their next Gin Masterclass is tonight (Monday 7th March) at 7.30pm. Tickets are £20 and can be bought through Fever.

2. Throw some pizza dough

For the wisest pizza knowledge straight out of Naples, sign up to one of Rossopomodoro‘s Pizza making masterclasses. Sip on wine as you mix, knead and stretch fresh pizza dough. You’ll take home enough dough to make 4 pizzas, but don’t worry, after the class on the night you’ll get to chow down on a selection of Rosso’s own pizza, prepared by their chefs. (Let’s be honest, your first attempt probably won’t be up to standard). Bellissimo! Rossopomodoro have various restaurants across London. Check their website for the latest events.

3. Become A Saucy Goddess/God

[Little Lady Luscious]
By the end of a Little Lady Luscious Burlesque Class you’ll not just be feeling sassy, but you’ll have all the moves to go with it. The class begins with a warm up and before you know it you’ll be strutting around in heels with ease. You’ll then be taught a routine based around a different aspects of burlesque. Ooooo la-la! Expect a lot of shimmying, teasing and stocking peeling your way into sexiness in no time. Tickets for the next class, which is on Thursday 10th March, are £12 and can be bought on Fever

4. Learn To Weave Words Together

[London Writer’s Cafe]
You may think reading high calibre articles like the ones you read on Secret London would be enough to teach you all there is to know about the art of creative writing… (LOL). However, if you join London Writer’s Cafe for a workshop, you can perfect your fiction writing techniques in a sociable and friendly environment. To find out more about up and coming meet-ups and how to get involved, take a look at their website.

5. Roll Out The Sushi!

If you love raw fish and rice as much as we do, then you’ll be dying to learn how to become a pro-roller. Sozai’s Cooking School prides itself on being the UK’s first Japanese cooking school and runs frequent sushi making classes (among other Japanese foods).
