The Secret London Guide To The Best Chocolate Shops In London
Step into a world of chocolate-covered warmth with a visit to these London chocolate shops good enough to rival Willy Wonka himself.
Just try not to let your greed get the better of you, or you might end up like young Augustus Gloop.
1. Artisan du Chocolat
Whether it’s chocolate truffles, chocolate bars or chocolate covered nuts, Artisan du Chocolat has got you covered. They specialise in inventive flavours – try the red wine dark chocolate or the ginger and lemongrass – and beautiful packaging. You’ll find their two London boutiques in Notting Hill and Chelsea or you can visit their concessions stand in Selfridges.
You’d have to be a total fun-sponge to not enjoy a gander round Choccywoccydoodah, because it’s filled to the brim with whimsical chocolate nonsense. Their show-stopping chocolate cakes in particular are a feast for the eye as well as the stomach. Find them at their London flagship shop in Carnaby.
3. Paul A Young
Paul A Young has branded himself an ‘incredibly creative flavour alchemist’. And, while we might cringe slightly at this description, we’ll allow it, because his chocolate creations are really rather tasty. You can try Paul’s ‘flavour alchemism’ for yourself in Soho, Islington, and Bank.
Melt has two luxury chocolate boutiques – one in Notting Hill and one in Holland Park – and it’s not surprising they’ve done rather well for themselves. Their kitchens are located in their shops, so you you can see (and smell) the chocolate being created right in front of you, before selecting them to be gift wrapped. Rather civilised really.
This Italian chocolate shop has made its debut in Soho and it’s quickly gained a cult following. You can select chocolate truffles from jars on the counter to be boxed up and enjoyed later or you can sit in for a ridiculously indulgent hot chocolate. 6. Philip Neal
This one’s perfect if you’re not only obsessed with chocolate but you’re also obsessed with shoes. Which goes for a great deal of us, funnily enough. Philip Neal‘s chocolate shoe collection sets him five (or-so) inches above the rest. You’ll find his shop in Chiswick so it’s a bit of a schlep for anyone outside of west London, but well worth it.
