Over 10,000 Teddys in one place… at one time…?! This is set to be the biggest festival of 2k17… it’s the WINTER BEARFEST, and we can bear-ly contain ourselves!
Calling Paddington, Baloo, Winnie and Rupert! On Sunday 26th February at Kensington Town Hall in London, 170 exhibitors and sellers of bears will be bearing all and heading to the number one spot for all London arctophiles (a person who is fond of teddy bears). ‘Bear Artist’ is the term given to bear makers who design their own original bears, often one-offs and limited editions and you will find hundreds at BEARFEST selling their bear wares. You can find out all about these gorgeous bears in a ‘World of Teddy Bears’ online publication called ‘Hugglets’ set up by Irene and Glenn in 1985… genuinely. Here’s a few of our favourites form previous Bear-stivals that we hope to see again this February…
Pearly Kings and Queens representing
My mum says I have a lovely smile
We sneeze rainbows. The best rainbows. We have all the rainbows.
I’m over this shit, man. Which way to Shoreditch?
They call me Fluffy cause I’ve got three hands
I thought you said there’d be drugs, man
I can get you drugs
And there won’t just be bears! Rabbits, mice, owls and unidentified stuffed animals will also be present. You can register to claim a free e-ticket for 2 here, but hurry, this bear-rilliant offer is limited to the first 200 responses. Free entry tickets for each event can also be found at the back of the UK Teddy Bear Guide or can be purchased at the door (£4 adult or £2 child).
The event goes on from 10.30am to 4pm. We recommend getting there early to avoid queues and also for the chocolates that are always passed down the line!
