“This pub is so good that someone tried to get in 8 hours before we open!” was the light-hearted words written on a blackboard outside the The Artillery Arms after it was broken into earlier this week. Some scoundrel smashed the window pane of the pub, near Old Street, in order to force open the front door. Tony Bennett, the manager, lives above and was awoken by the sound of the burglar alarm. He clearly has ‘top banter, for alongside this sign he was also serving up a ‘break-in special’ of roast lamb.
Don’t you just hate when people come to visit after you’ve gone to bed! Big thanks to the Met for their speedy response…
