Feeling ballsy? Dive into a pool of 1,000,000 balls at Ballie Ballerson, London’s now-infamous ball pool bar.
The Ballie Ballerson crew caused a big splash when they opened up London’s first ball-pit bar in Dalston in 2016. Starting out as a colourful kidult-coloured pool, it really captured Londoners’ imaginations when they filled the space with gorgeously ‘grammable glow-in-the-dark UV balls. Since then, they’ve grown considerably, to a frankly terrifying one million balls at their huge Shoreditch venue. Now, they’re opening a brand new site in Soho – and yes, they’ve somehow rustled up another million balls to fill the space.
Ballie Ballerson will take you back to the days when your mates held the party of the year at the ‘soft play’ centre, while simultaneously reminding you why it’s great to be an adult – namely, the addition of alcohol. In fact, it’s likely to provide you with even more fun than you had in your childhood, because now you’re an adult you can really appreciate the true glory of a ball pit filled with hundreds of thousands of plastic balls. These balls even glow.
The 4,000ft Shoreditch venue features a 70 metre UV mural, and a giant LED ball pit for everyone to enjoy. In true throwback fashion, the bar is even serving up sweet-shop inspired cocktails, including the Dibbie Dabberson and Skittle Sour. There’s also the frankly ludicrous option of Saturday bottomless brunch, which features unlimited Pornstar Martinis and bottomless pizza and is quite obviously a recipe for throwing up in the ballpit…
While the massive million-ball pit will be centre stage, those who prefer to play with balls in private can now book their own private ball pit. Those of an exhibitionist tendency, meanwhile, can hire a separate ball-pit up against the floor-to-ceiling windows (naughty…). Expect the underground Soho joint, opening up this week, to offer more of the same, but with the added bonus of a 4am closing time on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Remember: when life has you in the pits, get yourself some balls…
